How this estimate was built

  1. 1

    Start with taxable gross pay

$3,200.00 is treated as both federal and FICA-taxable wages for this estimate.

  2. 2

    Estimate federal withholding

$364.38 is estimated from the 2026 withholding method and the W-4 details entered here.

  3. 3

    Calculate employee FICA

$244.80 combines Social Security, Medicare, and any Additional Medicare Tax triggered by year-to-date wages.

  4. 4

    Subtract every deduction

    $3,200.00 gross − $609.18 total deductions = $2,590.82 estimated take-home pay.

How to estimate your 2026 paycheck

Enter your gross wages for the selected pay frequency and choose the federal filing information requested by the calculator. The result annualizes your pay, applies the relevant 2026 federal assumptions, and converts the estimate back to one paycheck.

Gross pay is what you earn before deductions. Net pay is what remains after the deductions included in the estimate. Your actual pay stub can be lower because state tax, local tax, insurance, retirement contributions, paid-leave premiums, and other deductions are outside this calculator.

  • Use your taxable gross wages, not a previous net-pay amount.
  • Match the pay frequency on your offer letter or pay stub.
  • Treat bonuses, commissions, tips, and multiple jobs as special situations that may need a more detailed review.

What affects take-home pay?

Federal withholding depends on taxable wages, payroll frequency, filing status, and Form W-4 information. FICA is separate: Social Security is generally withheld at 6.2% up to the 2026 wage base, while Medicare is generally withheld at 1.45% with no wage-base limit.

The estimate cannot reproduce every employer payroll configuration. Compare the result with an actual pay stub and use the IRS Tax Withholding Estimator when you have multiple jobs, non-wage income, a part-year job, or other complex circumstances.

Frequently asked questions

About this 2026 paycheck calculator

How accurate is this 2026 paycheck calculator?

It is a planning estimate based on the inputs and federal assumptions shown. It does not include state or local tax, benefits, garnishments, every Form W-4 adjustment, or employer-specific payroll treatment.

Does the paycheck calculator include state taxes?

No. NetPayKit currently calculates a federal-only estimate. State income tax, local income tax, disability insurance, paid leave, and similar jurisdiction-specific deductions are excluded.

What is the difference between gross pay and net pay?

Gross pay is earnings before deductions. Net pay, often called take-home pay, is the amount left after taxes and other deductions.
